Ones To Watch: Steam Next Fest February 2026 Edition

Kevin

The brand of posting these lists late is still strong. So let’s talk about last month’s Steam Next Fest.

Denshattack

Set in a colorful dystopic Japan, you play as a plucky train operator as you flip, dip and do crazy tricks. Gameplay is fast and fluid. Has this crazy mix of Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Bombrush. Something about grinding the rails as a commuter train in a volcano is really cool

Beastro

Beastro reminds us that not all heroes wear armor and wield swords. They wear chef whites and use a frying pan. You must run a restaurant to not only feed your village but also give heroes the boost they need to tame the wilderness. Plan meals, gather ingredients and run errands in a colorful cozy corner of the world. Order up!

Vampire Crawlers

From the studio that brought us the 2022 smash hit, Vampire Survivors comes a new spin on the VS lore. A new shift in perspective has you navigating dungeon levels while you fight battles with cards. 30 minutes in, I was hooked! I can’t wait for a release date!

Fogpiercer

Another cool game about trains. Something very Snowpiercer about this but with deckbuilding.

Thrifty Business

Running a business has never felt so cozy before. Lay out your items, honor requests and expanding your shop in order to grow. I could truly play this for hours and hours!

Wild Blue Skies

This game really scratches an inch that hasn’t been scratched since Star Fox Command on the 3DS. I’m floored on how cool this is. I had a little bit of issues with barrel rolls but overall I had a good time with it.

The Witch’s Bakery

What if a Hallmark and a Studio Ghibli movie (KiKi’s to be exact) made a game. Art style is just immaculate. At its core, it is a narrative visual novel but deeper down you gotta a surprisingly deep business management sim there.

Cropdeck

I love when deckbuilder roguelikes go into interesting ways. It’s like a mashup with Slay the Spire but with farming. You sell crops to pay your rent while each day brings a new modifier and layout. You collect scarecrows as relics, each with their own modifiers. A very hard game to put down once you get a run going.

Outbound

A van life simulator? Yeah, it is a little bit more than that. You and 3 others (thru online co-op) can roam around countryside, building up your van and opening up new areas. Love the day/night cycle

Gambonaza

Hmmm Balatro meet Chess. Well I am interested. The boss runs are legit bosses and kinda creepy, lol. I can’t wait to see more what this game has to offer!

Conclusion

Another Steam Next Fest in the books, so many games to play and as always so little time. If you want to see more of my gameplays for this current fest, Youtube playlist down below!
