Last Thursday, the Microsoft Gaming leadership team took some time to share the future of the business. They mentioned that four games were going to other platforms and gave hints as to what they were. We no longer need to guess.
On Tuesday, Nintendo held a Partner Showcase Direct showing off games that were coming to the Switch from third party developers. Of course, they opened the video with Grounded, Obsidian Entertainment’s co-op survival game. Then, buried deeper in the video, they showed off Pentiment, also from Obsidian.
Luckily, I waited to write the article sharing this news. Xbox decided to do the heavy lifting after they said the developers were going to do it and shared all the good information about the four games that were jumping ship to other platforms.
So, which games are jumping ship?
So, let’s dig in to what Xbox had to say!
- Pentiment will be releasing on February 22 on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and PlayStation 5.
- Hi-Fi Rush, the surprise release of 2023 from Tango Gameworks and Bethesda Softworks will be launching on Playstation 5 only on March 19. You can preorder the game starting February 22
- Grounded will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, and Nintendo Switch on April 16. Cross play between all consoles and PC will also be supported.
- Sea of Thieves, the pirate adventure game from Rare, will be releasing on April 30 on PlayStation 5. You will be able to wishlist the game on February 22. And of course, cross play will be available between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
Xbox was quick to point out that these games joins the likes of Minecraft, Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Diablo. One would be quick to point out that those games were multiplatform before Microsoft acquired the developers, but good for you, Xbox!
Also, it looks as if Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush are both getting physical releases courtesy of Limited Run Games. Of course, they are limited run, so you may want to move quickly. Pentiment pre-orders go live February 22 – March 24.
Also, I want to leave you with this from last week’s article:
Sources that are close to these things are saying that the two community games will be Sea of Thieves and Grounded while the two others may end up being Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment.”

I didn’t get that from one source, but pulled it all together and I’m proud of it!
