Ones To Watch: Kevin’s Top 12 Game Demos from Steam Next Fest (February 2025)

Kevin

Well as we wrap up another Steam Next Fest, let’s talk about my favorite demos from the event. Note, every header will contain a link to some of my demo videos. Please enjoy!

Rise of Industry

This sequel takes the first game’s stellar formula and gives it an 80’s slant. Its a city builder without a city. Focusing on the industry side of builder/tycoon and establishing supply chains. I love how the tutorials are in the vein of old VHS business courses.

Kabuto Park

What if Pokemon was all bug types and engaged in Sumo and you have Kabuto Park. It feels like the summer vacations of old, catching bugs behind my Grammy’s house. I love how each bug has a different moveset that could make/break a battle. A joy to play and I was smiling the entire time I played. Any game that makes me enjoy catching bugs is a good one!

Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping

Duck Detective finds its way on another one of my lists. Stellar voice acting, writing and jokes continue in this next iteration. I will keep it brief, go ahead and check this out. Play the first game too! Go, go!!

Is This Seat Taken?

One of the most interesting puzzle games since Wilmot Works it Out. Something so soothing about moving your little triangle people around to their chosen seats. Who know seat placement could be so cozy?

Wanderstop

You play as Alta, a fighter who finds herself at this magical tea shop. Alta is saved from Boro the kindly proprietor of the shop. She assists him by gathering ingredients and brewing tea. The visual are gorgeous and super colorful. The story and writing had its hooks in me! Highly recommend, keep and eye out for this.

The King is Watching

A roguelike city builder but with a twist. Any node can only activated if in a specific zone of influence (or being watched). Add waves of enemies and you have a challenging but fun time.

Urban Jungle

Feels like Unpacking but in 3D and with plants. Unlike Unpacking, it has a more active narrative. Plants are a driving force for the game, making sure that each plant has enough sunlight and humidity. I love when games feels like a warm hug

Locomoto

Have you ever wanted to drive a train? What about as a cuddly animal person? Also crafting! Do you like watching the countryside whiz by? This game is for you!

Monster Train 2

Sequel to the amazing Monster Train. This time, Hell and Heaven have teamed up to save both realms from a greater evil. Same core gameplay but with new cards, mechanics and heroes adds a freshness that was needed!

Cattle Country

I love farming sims especially when they go in a new, interesting directions. Cattle Country is set in a fictional Wild West setting. I love the pixel sprite work and themes. So if you like cozy farming games and the western genre, you should check it out!

Monster Con (Monster Prom 4)

The Monster Prom series is a laugh riot. This iteration takes place in a convention setting with about 5 new sexy monster romanceables to spend your time with. Hands down, I plan on playing all of these with my friends soon

Best Served Cold

The game is set in the fictional country of Bulkovie, you are a bartender in an illegal speakeasy. You have been volunteered by the local constabulary to help solve the murders of other speakeasy patrons in two weeks. Use well crafted cocktails and pointed conversation to find clues on who is the real killer!

In Conclusion

My backlog grows every single time! If you want to check out my full list of Steam Next Fest demo including my honorable mentions. Check out my Youtube playlist down below and also check the header pics for videos as well. I’m locked in for June’s Next Fest in a few months.
