The GOTYs 2024: Sunflower Edition 🐐

It’s a calm and quiet Thursday evening and since we’re not airing an episode, I’m gonna yap about my games of the year for 2024.

Spoiler alert: not a single one was made in 2024.

Let’s dive in.

Hollow Knight

That final pantheon in the Godhome DLC has me in a vice grip and I will not be free until I complete it. It was fun time of collaborating with friends and chat while I went to practice, de-rust on occasion, and get within a hair’s breadth of touching the sweet sun of victory. Maybe I’ll do that this year and have this on the GOTY 2025 list, too.

Don’t judge me.

Final Fantasy X

There is something that hits different when you can fully appreciate a game and that’s what happened here with Final Fantasy X. I did the things and paid attention to the story. Much of it felt familiar just because of the story beats, but familiar as I was with some of the turns, it was nice to revisit this game with more experienced eyes. It has a way of changing things.

For example, I raged at Wakka so often, I made a supercut of it.

Final Fantasy XI

Not my first MMO, but the one in which I found the most community (not to mention I’m clearly a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise). Fun fact, my friend bought this game for me back in 2001 when the game was new and it wouldn’t install.

Nevertheless, playing through the stories was a core to streaming when I started (no seriously, look at this hot mess) and continues to be because 23 years later, they are STILL updating this game. It’s fun, it’s great, I am still working on this one knife.

Portal 2

This was suggested (and gifted to me) by a friend and ended up being a lot of fun! Like… a lot of fun. It’s one of those games that I was exposed to a long time ago before I had “grown folk” money. Now that I do? All the games I missed are up for consideration and this is one of them for sure. A fun playthrough for sure.

I’m thinking that 2025 is going to also have some older games on it as well. I picked up a lot of games on the suggestions of friends and fellow creators, so it will be fun to see what makes it to my list for 2025!
