The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro were announced last week and with it came the announcement that they will receive 7 years worth of software updates. Today, it was confirmed that Google will also provide 7 years of spare parts as well.
Soniya Jobanputra, the director of product management at Google, told Android Authority,
Parts will be available for seven years. That’s part of our commitment as we go to the seven years (sic) that we need to make our parts available so you can keep your hardware alive for that long.
A right-to-repair bill in California will require companies to do this once it becomes law, so it’s good to se Google get ahead of the game with the Pixel 8.
