If you are one of those people who are still holding on to that iPhone 6S or iPad Air 2, well you’re in luck!
Not only people with more up-to-date phones and tablets get updates, but people with older devices are getting similar security updates.
macOS Ventura 13.6.1, macOS Monterey 12.7.1 and Safari 17.1 are also getting security updates as well.
While it may seem silly to patch such older devices, the truth of the matter is people still use these devices even though they can’t get all the bells and whistles their newer counterparts can. By at least giving these devices updates, it’s allowing them to remain secure while still being in use and giving them a little bit more life while protecting user data and security.
Now, this isn’t to say that these patches make older Apple devices secure. Apple has stated that only the latest OSes are fully patched regardless of what updates are given to older devices.
So, while you may be secure from some CVEs from these incoming patches, it doesn’t mean you are out of the woods and would probably benefit from upgrading a device, which still kinda sucks.
Come on, Apple!
