Can someone explain the mechanics of this to me?

As a person who loves storage, I have to stop myself and ask the big questions. When is enough enough? How big do games need to be? Why is Cyberpunk 2077 3 discs on Xbox Series X|S?

I can’t wait to get that answer. Hopefully, it’ll be available sometime near December 5. That is when Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be released on not only the Xbox, but on PS5 and PC as well.

According to a CD Projekt Red spokesperson, the “Xbox Series X box contains three discs with the base game and expansion”. The PlayStation 5 version will only have the base game and a code of the DLC. The PC version will only have a GOG keys. This will be the first time the base game will have been printed to disc for the current gen consoles. However, the Xbox version will be the only one to have the DLC on disc.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was initially going to be the first multi-disc game when it finally launched on the Xbox Series X|S next year. That game was also clocking in at 3 discs. PlayStation 5’s first multi-disc game, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, will be launching with 2 discs in February.

This news has finally got me wondering, though. I haven’t seen a multi-disc title in a while. I’m wondering how this will go playing through it on Xbox. And that goes doubly for Baldur’s Gate, especially if you’re playing online.

I’m glad these exist for game preservationists (if they can use them), but this is why I buy digital.
