If you are using Discord to hold on to some import documents, you might want to rethink that decision.

By the end of the year, the messaging platform most synonymous with gaming, will be refreshing links to those files every 24 hours. Bleeping Computer was told that this is being done to help fight the spread of malware on the platform.

This change should affect anyone sharing content on the platform. While the links will refresh on the app, you can click those and still get access to whatever it was. However, if the link was shared off Discord, the external link will not work after 24 hours.

Discord has stated that it will be sharing more “in the coming weeks”. Developers should “see minimal impact” after the change.
