After winning so many awards, Baldur’s Gate 3 can now add one more thing to the box: Available on Xbox! This game has gone through a lot on its journey. But now Xbox gamers can play a modern digital game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was teased just before The Game Awards on Thursday which seemed kind of fitting. It is available on both the Xbox Series X and Series S. However, in order for that to happen, some things had to be cut to allow the launch to happen.

Of course, the mode dropped was split screen co-op. This mode is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It, unfortunately, didn’t make it onto the Xbox Series S due to technical constraints. It is still planned to be added in a later update for that system.

What may seem like a very trivial thing now, it almost seemed like heaven and earth had to be moved during development. Microsoft requires that games coming to the Series S and X have feature parity. Performance gets a pass because of obvious hardware differences. Gameplay features aren’t so lucky. All games have to have to be indistinguishable on both platforms. In order to get the game shipped, Microsoft agreed to let Larian drop a feature on the S as long as they get it in.

That’s all in the past now. Larian Studios put out a critically successful game and now nearly everyone can finally enjoy it.
