Immortals of Aveum gets a demo

Doesn't look like people bought into Magic Call of Duty.

There are only so many reasons why a game would get a demo. Either a developer or publisher feels so good, they’ll offer people a taste before release. Some may want free beta testers, so they’ll drop a server test “demo”. But, in the case of Immortals of Aveum, its due to poor sales after the game launches.

EA dropped the demo on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S this weekend. It has the first three chapters of the game so people can try out the FPS for themselves.

There are signs that this move is sales motivated. Back in September, Ascendant Studios, the developer of Immortals of Aveum, had to lay off nearly half of its staff. The CEO Bret Robbins shared that it was a “painfully difficult, but necessary decision that was not made lightly.”

Because there is now a free trial of the game, I’m going to check it out this week. I’ll report back here with my thoughts on the game.
