Let’s face it. Passwords are a pain. Every time you want to access something, you need to type it in. They always get leaked somehow. Because of that, we need to use a password manager and remember THAT password. And don’t get me started on using passwords on consoles and streaming devices. Well, Sony seems to want to make passwords a thing of the past on PlayStation.

Sony has just launched the ability to use passkeys on PlayStation accounts. This means you can sign in on mobile or a computer by using a PIN, fingerprint, or face.

All you would need to do to set this up is go to Security under Account Management. Once you are there, you can enable the feature and create a passkey by following the instructions provided. Some users may have issues with physical keys, so Sony recommends using synced passkeys on phones instead.

After enabling and setting up passkeys, you will sign in using your passkey anytime you need to log into your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4.

I’m glad passkeys are around but I’m just waiting for the day we have to abandon these, too. There’s always a better mouse right around the corner.
