According to Sony, the PS5 is selling like hotcakes. According to them, I should be able to walk into a store, pick one up, and enjoy all the latest games. I wouldn’t know. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a store. But I have seen a PlayStation 5 that’d I’d very much like to have and will never get a chance to own.

As you may or may not know, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) President and CEO Jim Ryan is retiring in March. However, on Thursday, his team had a party for him to say goodbye. They had cardboard cutouts of controllers. There were even cookies with Jim Ryan’s face on it.

But the dopest thing this dude got was a custom PS5 decked out in the classic PS1 greyscale. The controller that comes with it also has the PS1 color scheme. The kicker, though, is the cable end which was designed to look like a PS1 controller connector. Looking at the image closer, it appears to be only plugged into one USB-C port with the other covered by the plastic housing. That won’t be awkward at all when two controllers need to be used.

Thanks to the Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lead, Yuichi Haga, for snapping the pics. Hopefully, he’ll get to go to The Game Awards next year.
