DoorDash: “It’d be a shame if your fries got cold because of no tip”

Still can't get me back with this news

In a move that should have been done ages ago, DoorDash has now started to warn customers who feel that their food delivery service workers don’t deserve to be compensated.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, a message will pop up if you enter a $0 tip.

As someone who has delivered for DoorDash along with using DoorDash, I know what it’s like on both sides of the equation. I’ve delivered things up three flights of stairs. That’s right. Not just food. Once I had to deliver a giant bag of kitty litter to the top floor of an apartment complex. And with the low pay that DoorDash provides their drivers, its an extra gut punch to see no tip.

As a customer, I always tip. It’s the right thing to do. But as someone who’s been on the other side, these drivers do not get enough.

While I think DoorDash could do more, this is a step in the right direction for those work this particular gig. I just want to buy a new MacBook Pro.
